Refund policy

The Bulwark was founded to provide analysis and reporting in defense of America’s democracy. Our merch? To carry that message into the real world. 

We know our readers and viewers, The Bulwark community, love to talk about it with like minded folks, and the goal of the store is to only sell things we would wear or use. That said, we’re sticking to the opinion business and working with high quality merch purveyors to meet the demand for such items. 

Our store partners make everything on demand—no warehouse, no shelves, no interns in a shipping room—so please double-check your order before you hit purchase. If something arrives broken, misprinted, or otherwise wrong, we’ll make it right. 

Made-to-Order Production

Everything in our store is printed individually once you order it. This helps us avoid overproduction and waste (we’re in the ideas business, not the inventory business), but it also means we can’t accept returns for things like a wrong size or a change of heart. 

Please be sure to check the sizing guides on each item before ordering. If you’re unsure, just email store@thebulwark.com before you buy—it’s always easier to get it right up front and we’re very responsive. 

Incorrect, Damaged, or Misprinted Items

If your item arrives damaged, defective, or not what you ordered, please email store@thebulwark.com within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number, a short description of the issue, and photos of the item and shipping label. Once verified, we’ll work with our fulfillment partner to replace or refund the item as quickly as possible. You won’t need to return the defective item unless the vendor specifically requests it. (We’ll tell you.) 

Orders That Cannot Be Fulfilled 

If your order never ships or an item becomes unprintable or unavailable, you’ll automatically receive a full refund to your original payment method. 

Cancellations

Because orders are printed or embroidered shortly after they’re placed, cancellations are only possible before production begins. If you need to cancel, email store@thebulwark.com right away. We’ll do our best, but once an order enters production, we’re unable to stop it under the terms of our agreement with the store partners. We appreciate your understanding.

Shipping Issues

If your package arrives damaged, the order is misprinted, or incorrect, we’ll do what we can to make it right. If tracking shows “delivered” but you haven’t received it, please check with your carrier or neighbors first, then contact us within 7 days. While we can’t be responsible for lost or stolen packages, we’ll always do what we can to help.

Refund Timing

Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method within 5–10 business days after confirmation. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the refund. If it’s been more than 15 business days since approval, contact us at store@thebulwark.com.
